Local Viennese “Grätzl” tour – extended short version

Local Viennese “Grätzl” tour – extended short version
Discover the real Vienna, off the beaten track!

You can now put your guidebook away. On our tour of discovery through the city of Vienna you will receive an insight into real Viennese life. We will take you through the 1st and 9th districts, the centre of Vienna, and show you not only the classical sights but also provide you with lots of insider tips and tell one or another (amusing) Viennese anecdote.

In case you are wondering what a “Grätzl“ tour is: the “Grätzl”, an Austrian synonym for the “immediate surroundings”, can be mainly found around Vienna’s first municipal district, which is how large Vienna originally was within the city walls. What were once villages on the outskirts of the city are today Vienna’s hip and trendy districts.

Starting point:
Austria Trend Hotel Rathauspark, Rathausstrasse 17, 1010 Vienna

Go inside and let us introduce you to a very special group of “local heroes” who are all connected to Vienna and to our neighbourhood: from the Rathausmann, Empress Maria Theresa, Empress Sisi, Falco, Sigmund Freud, Oskar Werner and Stefan Zweig to the Goddess Austria.

The tour also takes you to:
Matschnig’s Antique Cellar
Café Caspar
Feinkost Klimon (delicatessen)
Rathauspark with the Rathausmann
Volksgarten with its Sisi memorial
Maria Theresa memorial
Vienna University
Schottentor with Jonas-Reindl

Time required (including walking): ca. 70 minutes
Distance: ca. 3.6 km
